Cali is also known as the World's Salsa Capital. Every night salsa music is played in most of the bars and clubs and people dance to this type of music. Salsa is an important part of the culture in Cali's inhabitants and you can find the best salsa dancers in the city.
If you are interested in sightseeing you can find a number of historical buildings in Cali as well as some public squares and parks. The most popular building in Cali is Sabastian de Belalcazar's Monument which is situated obn a small hill. From this monument you can see the whole city of Cali. Another monument located on a hill is the Cristo Rey. This religious monument is 32 meters high and should be visited if you are travelling around Cali.
Other popular places are the Plaza de Caizedo, Parque del Perro, the San Antonio neighbourhood, and Cali Zoo. Located next to the beautiful Cali River, the Cali Zoo is ranked along the top 5 zoos in South America and has a large number of animals.
The surroundings of Cali are not less interesting tham the city itself. There you can find National Parks with unspoiled nature. The Farallones de Cali NAtional Park is the largest National Park in the department and can be accessed from Cali via the Oichindé River in the North or the Pance River in the South.
The park has high mountains with peaks up to 4,000 meters, Andean forests, rain forests, and many endemic and endangered species. You cannot only find many mammal species, there are also more than 300 bird species making the Park an interesting spot for bird watching.
